Welcome to KhanyaBha Academy of Maths and Science
Where we provide high-quality extra Maths and Science classes to improve the performance of learners from predominantly rural and peri-urban schools in the Pietermaritzburg area.
In Person Maths and Science Classes
Classes are given by carefully selected, practising Maths and Science teachers who have a good track record and experience. The learners are organized into two class groups of 20 in each grade. They attend the classes for four hours a day, two hours per subject. The tuition programme is aligned to that of the provincial Department of Education.
Weekly Maths and Science Classes Year Round
Classes are conducted at the Plessislaer campus of Umgungundlovu TVET College in Imbali Township, Pietermaritzburg on Saturdays.
Our Objective?
- To offer Maths and Science classes to grade 7-12 learners
- To expose, inspire and assist learners to consider future careers in scientific and technological fields by career expos, visits and talks by professionalsin these fields excursions to science centers and industries.
- To work with local schools, teachers and to improve the teaching and learning of Maths and Science by setting up meetings and workshops for teachers.
- To teach problem-solving skills to learners through investigative approaches to teaching and learning. Online and e-learning are part of the methodology of engaging with the subject content. This approach, we believe, will go a long way in making them become confident participants in the 4th Industrial Revolution that is upon us.

- A small class is an advantage because the tutor can identify learners’ weaknesses.

GRADE 10
- Class is not big and is manageable, unlike their schools.

GRADE 9

GRADE 7

- Learners are encouraged to work independently. Learners have gained the confidence to do homework without assistance, especially in Maths and Science.
- There’s marked improvement in school performance – passed the two subjects very well.
